Who do we help?

Our mission statement:

"To provide assistance and support for economically and educationally disadvantaged children."

By children we mean young people from birth to 21 years. We currently target our support in Gloucestershire.

Between 2007 and 2012 the Trustees have chosen to target two strategic outcomes in response to evidence of need in Gloucestershire.

1. To increase the levels of participation and attainment of Children in Care (CIC) in preschool, primary, secondary, special school and tertiary education.

2. To reduce the rates of permanent and fixed-term school exclusions within primary, secondary and special schools.

The Peter Lang Children’s Trust is a grant-making organisation, and provides grants for up to 3 years. We are not a service provider: we find those organisations best placed to help and support young people in need through our grant-giving programme.

We welcome applications from organisations that are able to help us carry out our mission and realise our strategic outcomes. We do not make grants direct to individuals.

We are especially interested in ‘gaps’: where the needs of children are not being met, and where there is scope to make lasting change to the lives of children and the services they receive.

We have a strong interest in work that has a preventive focus. We recognise that problems such as school exclusions, low educational attainment, anxiety and depression are often the result of long-term issues in young people’s lives. We welcome proposals that seek to give young people the best start in life, and empower them to overcome obstacles that might otherwise prevent them from fully engaging in all the positive opportunities that life has to offer.

We advise you to read the Trusts Strategic Plan for 2007-12 before completing our application form. If you would like more information or the opportunity to discuss potential proposals please contact us.
