2009 Awards Evening for Children in Care
The 2009 PLCT Awards Evening for Looked After Children in Gloucestershire

The achievements of children in care within Gloucestershire have been celebrated at the 6th annual Achievement Awards, during a glittering ‘Winter Wonderland’ experience.
The Awards, held on Thursday 10 December 2009, provided the opportunity to celebrate the academic and vocational achievements of some of the county’s most courageous young people who have triumphed against often overwhelming circumstances. More than 30 received certificates and prizes, in recognition of their exceptional achievement in academic and extended school activities.
As part of the entertainment prize-winners tried their hand at circus skills and t-shirt design, and guest speaker Dreadlock Alien – presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Poetry Slam – spoke in his inimitable style of his own experience in local authority care and the importance of education and aspiration.
PLCT are also delighted that UCAS, for the second year running, have supported this event, which we hope will continue to raise the educational aspirations of children in care within Gloucestershire.
